35-year-old Joseph R. Williams arrested

Delaware State Police have arrested a Greenwood man after he was found to be DUI for the fifth time.

The incident occurred on Monday, April 30, when troopers were called to Sussex
Highway, at the intersection of Cannon Road, to check on a tan, 2004 GMC pickup truck facing southbound in the northbound lanes. Contact was made with the operator, identified as 35-year-old Joseph R. Williams, who refused to comply with the trooper's commands. A taser was deployed and Williams was taken into custody.

Further investigation revealed that Williams' pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Cannon Road when it crossed over the median, struck a DUI sign and came to rest on Sussex Highway.

A computer check revealed that Williams had four previous DUI convictions, making this his fifth offense. He was arrested and charged with felony fifth-offense DUI, felony resisting arrest and traffic violations. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institute on $8,101 secured bond.
