Lake Vasey, of Lincoln, a sophomore at Water Girl Farm Academy Home School, will be presented with an engraved bronze medallion to recognize her selection as a distinguished finalist for Delaware in the 2018 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards.

The presentation is set for 1:30 p.m. April 25 during Delaware 4-H Legislative Day at Dover Legislative Hall, 401 Legislative Ave.

Lake is an active member and current club officer with her 4-H, helping with events from holiday activities to chapter fundraisers and serving as a counselor at 4-H Younger Member Weekend camp.

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, conducted by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals, represent the U.S.’s largest youth recognition program based exclusively on volunteer community service. Middle and high schools in the U.S., along with all Girl Scout councils, county 4-H organizations, Red Cross chapters, YMCAs and affiliates of Points of Light’s HandsOn Network, were eligible to select a student or member for a local Prudential Spirit of Community Award during November 2017. Two state honorees — one middle and one high school student — plus a select number of distinguished finalists from each state and Washington, D.C., were selected based on criteria such as personal initiative, effort, impact and personal growth.
