The Delaware Cannabis Advocacy Network will host a free public seminar on pardons, expungement and restoration of rights from 1 to 4 p.m. March 24 at First and Central Presbyterian Church, 1101 N. Market St., Wilmington.
Cannabis prohibition is a gateway to the criminal justice system, as cannabis possession can be the first offense for a young person that can leave them within the criminal justice system for years. A criminal record for cannabis and other offenses can have a life-long negative effect that can often perpetuate the current problems seen in communities by impeding employment, education, housing and other opportunities.
The seminar will feature several Delaware attorneys who will discuss eligibility for expungements, pardons and other restoration of civil rights; the requirements for each process, including a detailed explanation of each step; and tips for a successful outcome. There will also be a Q&A session.
