UPDATE: The Delaware State Police Major Crimes Unit have identified the suspect involved in a Millsboro stabbing incident and are seeking the public's help in locating him.
Troopers were able to identify the suspect as 47-year-old Lavocia I. Callahan, of Wilmington. Warrants have been obtained for Callahan's arrest, including charges of first-degree assault, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, aggravated menacing and terroristic threatening.
Troopers have been unable to locate Callahan and asks anyone with information in reference to his whereabouts to contact Detective D. Kristunas, Troop 4 Major Crimes Unit at 302-752-3856. Delaware State Police Major Crimes Unit detectives are investigating a stabbing that occurred in Millsboro Wednesday evening.
The investigation began on Wednesday, Jan. 24, at around 8:20 p.m., when troopers were dispatched to the intersection of Townsend and Harmony Cemetery Roads for a reported stabbing. Upon arrival, units made contact with a 38-year-old Milford man who was sitting on the side of the roadway with stab wounds to his extremities. The victim was removed from the scene by Emergency Medical Services and transported to a local hospital.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim, who was at the time a passenger in a vehicle, had engaged in a verbal argument with another passenger. The argument escalated and the driver stopped at the intersection of Townsend and Harmony Cemetery Roads. While still seated in the vehicle, the other passenger stabbed the victim. The victim was able to exit the vehicle prior to the suspect fleeing the scene.
The suspect could only be described as a black male. The victim was treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries.
