Gable Music Ventures announced the partnership with Downtown Milford Inc. on Monday to expand the September festival to Milford.
Downtown Milford, Inc. and Gable Music Ventures announced Monday they have partnered to bring The Ladybug Music Festival to Milford.
The Ladybug Music Festival, set for September 22, is a free block party that celebrates women in music. The festival, which features exclusively female or female fronted acts, has been held in Wilmington since its start in 2012, but Gable Music Ventures is expanding to Milford for the upcoming season.
Gayle Dillman and Jeremy Hebbel of Gable Music Ventures said they chose Milford by a happy accident.
“Immediately upon parking the car we were struck. It’s such a beautiful little town.” Hebbel said.
This family friendly event spans all genres of music and hopes to attract people to Milford’s downtown area. Downtown Milford, Inc. Board President Sara Pletcher said one of the primary goals of the event is to assist in the revitalization of Milford and encourage economic development opportunities by using local shops as performance venues to highlight Milford as a great place to live or start a business.
So far, seven businesses are set to host performers, including Arenas, Gallery 37, Irish Rose, Lifecycle, Milford Antiques, Red Bandana and The Riverfront Theater.
Gable Music Ventures hopes to include as many local businesses as possible in order to bring in more artists.
“If there are businesses that want to show the residents in Milford that they care and are invested in the community, sponsoring this event is a tremendous way to do that.” Hebbel said.
Over its six year period, The Ladybug Music Festival has hosted over 250 acts, and the 2018 Wilmington festival has received more than 140 artist submissions. With the expansion to Milford, Gable Music Ventures hopes to find more artists from Milford and the Kent Country area. The lineup for the Milford Ladybug Music Festival will be announced by July 20.
