Georgetown police arrested a Delmar, Maryland man after responding to a theft complaint on the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 10.
Around 7:30 P.M., police were dispatched to Redner's Market on College Park Lane for a shoplifting complaint. Prior to officers arriving at the store, the theft suspect, later identified as 54-year-old Paul Fleetwood, was contacted by a member of the store's loss prevention staff and pushed a cart of stolen items at the employee. An attempt was made to block the store exit; the suspect pushed an employee and attempted to flee. He was eventually detained by Redner's staff until the arrival of police. One employee received a minor injury to the elbow while struggling with the suspect.
Fleetwood was arrested for second-degree robbery and later released on $5,000 unsecured bond.
