Sven Conquest, 41, of Georgetown died Saturday from injuries.
The Delaware State Police say Sven Conquest, 41, of Georgetown, died Saturday as a result of injuries sustain in an automobile accident Friday, Sept. 29, east of Ellendale.
The incident occurred around 11:06 a.m. Friday Sept. 29, as Conquest was operating a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica west on Hummingbird Road entering the intersection at Holly Tree Road. A 49-year-old Georgetown man was operating a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado east on Hummingbird Road approaching the same intersection.
Conquest lost control of the Chrysler and exited the north side of the roadway before re-entering and swerving directly into the path of the Silverado. The pickup driver attempted to swerve to the right. However, the right side front of the Chrysler struck the front center of the truck near the south edge of the roadway. After the impact, both vehicles were forced off the roadway and came to a stop.
Police say Conquest was not properly restrained and was airlifted by Trooper 2 to Christiana Medical Center where he was admitted with serious injuries. He died Saturday September 30.
The 49-year-old pickup truck operator, was not properly restrained, and was transported by ambulance to Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries.
A 55-year-old male passenger in the pickup truck was not properly restrained and was also transported by EMS to MMH with non-life-threatening injuries.
The State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident. It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors on behalf of the Chrysler Pacifica operator. No charges have been filed. Holly Tree Road at Hummingbird Road was closed for three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
