The theft of a credit card more than one year ago has resulted in the arrest of a Milford woman.

Milford Police Department spokesman Sgt. Robert Masten, said the suspect, identified as 42-year-old Sharon Williams of Milford, was taken into custody Sept. 25.

The case began in June 2016 as police investigated the theft as well as several suspicious charges made on the account following the theft. Police also learned the suspect had taken merchandise from a store after the card had been denied.

Police took Williams into custody after stopping her car on Liberty Way, Masten said.

She is charged with conspiracy, shoplifting, theft under $1500.00, three counts of unlawful use of a payment card, attempted unlawful use of payment card and three counts of theft by false pretense.

Williams later was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond.
