Delaware State Police have arrested a Bridgeville man after he led troopers on a car chase late Saturday night.
The incident began around 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, when a Delaware State Trooper noticed a GMC Envoy traveling northbound on southbound Route 13 (Sussex Highway), in the area of Adams Road, in Greenwood. The Envoy came to within about 30 feet of the trooper's patrol car before swerving to avoid a collision. When the trooper activated the emergency lights on his car, the Envoy made a u-turn and fled.
The driver, later identified as 27-year-old Jordan M. Wright, led police on a 20-minute pursuit, which was terminated after he entered the State of Maryland via Turner Road.
A short time later, troopers were advised that Maryland State Police had located Wright's abandoned Envoy on Handy Road, in the area of White Road, in Federalsburg. As Delaware State Police responded to the area, they found Wright walking along Federalsburg Road.
Wright was taken into custody and charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, resisting arrest with violence, disregarding a police officer's signal and numerous traffic offenses. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $26,625 secured bail.
