The Delaware State Police Sussex County Drug Unit arrested two people following an investigation into illegal drug distribution in western Sussex County.

On Monday, August 15, at around 6:45 p.m., the Sussex County Drug Unit, with the assistance of the Sussex County Governor's Task Force and Special Operations Response Team, executed a search warrant in the 24000 block of Concord Pond Road in Seaford. Upon their arrival, 58-year-old Fred Clanton Jr., of Bridgeville, and 53-year-old Willie J. Adamson, of Seaford, were taken into custody without incident.

Information was received that Clanton was storing a large amount of illegal narcotics in the trunk of a white Acura that was parked at a residence in the 21000 block of Mill Park Drive in Bridgeville. Detectives responded to that location and obtained a consent search on the vehicle, which yielded 2,440 bags (17.08 grams) of heroin.

Clanton himself was found to have 17.73 grams of crack cocaine and 113 bags (0.791 grams) of heroin in his possession.

Clanton was charged with possession of a controlled substance in a tier 5 quantity (heroin), possession with intent to deliver heroin and possession with intent to deliver crack cocaine. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $90,000 cash bond. Adamson was charged with maintaining a drug property and released on $4,000 unsecured bond.
