Gillis Gilkerson construction management and general contracting firm announced it is in the final phase of work on The Nest at Sussex Academy, a new 3,861-square-foot building at at 21150 Airport Road in Georgetown.

The academy will feature storage space for athletic equipment, men’s and women’s multi-stall restrooms that are compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, an open pavilion area and a concession stand.

“We were fortunate to work with Sussex Academy again to enhance the educational experience the campus offers to its staff and students,” said Dwight Miller, Gillis Gilkerson president. “We previously renovated the school’s lobby, stage, library and natatorium. We value the opportunity to grow our relationship with them as we help the school expand its offerings to meet the community’s needs.”

“As the owner’s representatives, Becker & Frondorf has had the pleasure of collaborating with Gillis Gilkerson on two, key, successive and successful projects for the same client,” said Carlo Arjona, project manager. “Their professionalism, pragmatism and proficiency in getting things done were invaluable assets. While the very nature of construction projects can often put the interests of the owner and the general contractor at odds, our experiences with Gillis Gilkerson and its staff, at all levels, were testaments that these, respective interests can still be fully met collaboratively, collegially and civilly for collective project success.”
