Dana Harris and Dana D. Harris were arrested July 28.

Aunt, niece arrested after domestic spat

Officers from the Milford Police Department have arrested a local woman and her niece following a domestic argument that turned violent.

A city police officer also received a minor injury while trying to take them into custody, department spokesman Sgt. Robert Masten said.

The incident began at about 12:26 pm. July 28 when patrol officers went to an apartment in the Brightway Commons to investigate a domestic dispute call.

This resulted in the woman, identified as Dana Harris, 32, and her niece, Dana D. Harris, 18 being arrested.

Their investigation showed Dana Harris had gotten into an altercation with another woman, which led to Dana D. Harris getting involved as well, Masten said.

Both of the women hit the officer while he was trying to separate them and both continued to resist officers as they were being arrested, Masten added.

Both women are charged with second-degree assault with injury to a law enforcement officer, third-degree assault, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.

Dana Harris later was released on a $7,500 unsecured bond while her niece was released on a $12,100 unsecured bond.

Both are to appear in Kent County Court of Common Pleas Aug. 11.
