Stephanie Trimmer has been released on a $1,000 unsecured bond.

A Delaware State Police spokesman said a Milford woman has been charged with felony theft after an investigation revealed she allegedly stole more than $27,000 from a local booster club.

Stephanie L. Trimmer, 42 of Milford, was arrested July 27 and charged with one count of theft over $1,500 after detectives were alerted to money being missing, Delaware State Police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier said.

On June 1, officials with the Cape Henlopen School District told detectives the boys high school lacrosse boosters account had a negative balance and should have contained several thousand dollars.

Trimmer, who was the president of the booster club, was the only person since 2016 to have full access to this account.

Detectives learned that starting around February 2016, Trimmer allegedly went to various banks throughout eastern Sussex County and wrote checks to herself for cash and failed to turn in receipts to the treasurer, Fournier said.

She continued to do this up until March 2017 by which time she allegedly had depleted the account of about $27, 995.

After being formally charged, Trimmer was released on a $1,000 unsecured bond.
