Louise Ballard, surrounded by state troopers, family, and friends attended a solemn ceremony the morning of July 25 at the Delaware State Police Museum Dover, for the dedication of Corporal Stephen J. Ballard’s photo on the Memorial Wall.
“Today we join with the family and friends, members of the museum board, and our honored guests as we unveil Stephen’s memorial photograph in honor of his service and sacrifice, and to keep our enduring promise to the community that we serve, to our troopers, to our survivors, and to his family, that we will never forget,” Col. Nathaniel McQueen Jr., superintendent of Delaware State Police told the group. “Today we honor his courage and commitment to the oath to protect and serve. Cpl. Ballard’s memory will live on in his family and in the many lives that he touched, and he will always be a part of the enduring history of the Delaware State Police.”
During the ceremony, executives from JPMorgan Chase Bank presented DSP Museum President Greg Sacco with a $10,000 donation to the DSP Museum in honor of Ballard’s service and ultimate sacrifice.
Ballard’s photo will also be placed on the Memorial Walls at all of the Troops and sections within the division.
