The Milton Historical Society’s 2017 King Cole Cannery Celebrity Chef Cook-Off will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Milton Fire Hall, 116 Front St.
This year, chefs will prepare culinary creations featuring vegetables and fruits that would have been canned at the former King Cole Cannery located in Milton. Participating chefs are from restaurants located in Milton, Rehoboth Beach, Lewes and Milford. Guests at this event will can sample the creations of celebrity chefs, then vote to determine the winner. Music, the King Cole Celebrity Raffle and a cash bar will be included.
A highlight is the chance to win one of the King Cole Celebrity Raffle Baskets, which are themed and offer items. A sampling includes baskets filled with products and goods from Lavender Fields Farm, 302 Fitness and Dogfish Head Craft Brewery. Baskets are valued at more than $150. Raffle tickets are $10 each, five for $40 or six for $50, and may be purchased in advance or at the event. Winners do not need to be present to win but must be available to pick up their prize from the Milton Historical Society by Sept. 29.
Tickets are $45 for nonmembers and at the door. MHS members pay $35 for tickets purchased before Sept. 8. Tickets are limited to 200.
Proceeds support the Milton Historical Society’s programs, walking tours, lectures, new exhibits and educational programs for local children.
