The man, David M. Cane, 41, of Milford, was cited for not carrying a light on the dark highway.

A Milford man is recovering from injuries sustained when he was hit by a vehicle over the weekend near Frederica.

Delaware State Police spokesman Sgt. Richard Bratz said the incident took place at about 9:12 p.m. Saturday, July 8 on Bay Road near Milford Neck Road.

A 2007 GMC Yukon, driven by Jennifer R. Valentine, 34, of Pennsylvania, was in the northbound lane of Bay Road when it hit the man who was standing partially in the right-hand lane.

Valentine brought the vehicle to a controlled stop north of the pedestrian, Bratz said.

The man was identified as David M. Cane, 41, of Milford. He was taken to the Bayhealth Hospital, Milford Campus for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Troopers cited Cane for failing to carry a light on a public roadway.

Valentine and the passengers in the Yukon all were properly seatbelted and no one was injured, Bratz said.
