Wholesale fruit and vegetable growers and others interested in learning about produce safety, Good Agricultural Practices and the Food Safety Modernization Act Produce Safety Rule are encouraged to attend the Delaware Food Safety Modernization Act Product Produce Rule Training, Produce Food Safety Updates and Food Safety Plan Writing Workshop, held 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 16 and 17 at Delaware State Fairgrounds, 18500 S. Dupont Highway, Harrington.

The Delaware Department of Agriculture will cover the cost for eligible Delaware growers.

Lunch and breaks will be provided.

Trainers will spend about seven hours of instruction time to cover content contained in seven modules. In addition to learning about produce safety best practices, parts of the FSMA Produce Safety Rule requirements are outlined within each module. There will be time for questions and discussion, so participants should come prepared to share their experiences and produce safety questions.

Participants will be eligible to receive a certificate from the Association of Food and Drug Officials that verifies they have completed the training course. To receive an AFDO certificate, a participant must be present for the entire training and submit the appropriate paperwork.
