DelTech offers summer camps
Delaware Technical & Community College, Owens Campus is offering the “All Day All Stars” summer program for children ages 6 to 11 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., starting Monday, June 8.
The camps will include science, math, history, computers, arts & crafts, games, fitness, and nutrition in a theme-based, fun-filled atmosphere.

An Evening at the Hook
The lecture series, “An Evening at the Hook”, continues the 2009 season with Antarctica & Seabirds of the Southern Oceans at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 11, in the refuge auditorium. Refreshments will be served prior to the program at 6:30 p.m.
Featured on the second Thursday of every month, these hour-long programs are free and open to the public.

Milford Senior Center variety show
The Milford Senior Center is hosting its 22nd Annual Variety Show at 7 p.m. Friday, June 5, and Saturday, June 6, and at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 7, in the Crystal Room, 111 Park Ave., Milford.
Tickets for the Friday and Saturday show are $7 and can be bought at the door. The Sunday Dinner Theatre is $22 and tickets must be purchased in advance.

Mispillion Art League classes
Nettie Green will teach an Introduction to Pottery Class from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 5, 12, 19 and 26 at the Rehoboth Art League in Rehoboth Beach. This class, which is open to teens and adults, costs $90 for members and $100 for non-members. There is an additional $35 fee for materials and firing. Bring a bagged lunch.
The Mispillion Art League also will offer a linoleum block printing class taught by artist Jose M. Weidner-Ahorrio from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 20, 27 and July 11, 18 at the Abbotts Mill Nature Center in Milford. This class series will provide an introduction to the basic techniques and historical development of engraving in relief and students will use traditional instruments to create and print their engravings in black and white. The class costs $115 for members and $130 for non-members. Materials cost approximately $60. Bring a bagged lunch.

Memorial Garden workshop
Delaware Hospice’s Family Support Center will hold a special workshop on memory gardens from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, at the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford.
The Planting a Memory Garden workshop will help participants create a space in their yards or patios to plant a garden to memorialize someone. The workshop is free and open to the public as a community outreach program for the center.

Bushel of Crabs raffle
Milford High School Boosters are selling raffle tickets for a bushel of crabs and two cases of beverages. The tickets cost $5 each and may be purchased by calling Cathy Luff at 222-8264 or 422-1198. The crabs will be delivered in June and the winning ticket will be drawn at the team end-of-season banquet.
Free swim event
The Boys & Girls Club of Milford will be holding a free swim event from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 6. There will also be discounted registration for all programs that day. The Club is located at 101 Delaware Veterans Boulevard, Milford. For more information, call 422-4453.
Farmer’s Market
There will be a Downtown Farmer’s Market held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, June 6 and 13. There will be decorated plants for sale for the Strawberry Festival and Flag Day as well as drawings for gift certificates to local restaurants. All proceeds will benefit the Relay for Life in Milford.

Upcoming events at Milford Parks & Recreation
Milford Parks & Recreation will hold an aerobics program from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday evenings for six weeks through June 18 in the Boys & Girls Club gym, Airpark Road. The classes will cost $35 per session. For more information, call 422-1104.
A “Penny Drop” fundraiser to raise monies for youth programs is being held at the office, 207 Franklin St. Their goal is to fill four five-gallon water jugs with pennies.
‘Simple Machines’ at the John Dickenson Plantation
Beginning on June 10, the John Dickinson Plantation will feature an exhibit demonstrating six simple machines (incline ramp, screw, wedge, pulley, lever, and wheel) that constitute the elementary building blocks of which all complicated machines are composed. Each of these machines was in common usage at the plantation during the lifetime of John Dickinson (1732–1808), one of the founding fathers of the United States, signer of the Constitution, and “Penman of the Revolution.” The exhibit, entitled “Simple Machines,” will be on display in the plantation’s granary building on an ongoing basis.
