Theatre holds Shakespeare auditions

The Milton Theatre will hold open auditions for the original British farce, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at 7 p.m.  Sunday, May 31, and at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 30. Performances of the show will be at 8 p.m. July 24, 25, 26 and there will be 2 p.m. matinees July 31 and August 1 and 2. Those auditioning must be available for all shows and technical rehearsals each night the week prior to opening. Roles: four to 10 mature males; two to four mature females; two to six young adult males; two to six young adult females; and limited non-speaking parts for children.

Rust named All-American Scholar


Ashley Rust of Milford has been named an All-American Scholar by the United States Achievement Academy. The USAA has established the All-American Scholar Award Program to offer deserved recognition to superior students who excel in the academic disciplines. Scholars must earn a 3.3 or higher grade point average. Only scholars selected by a school instructor, counselor or other qualified sponsor are accepted.

Ashley, who attends 8th grade at Milford Middle School, was nominated for this honor by Wayne Smith, Band Director of MMS. Ashley will appear in the All-American Scholar Yearbook.

Ashley is the daughter of Bill and Laura Rust and the sister of Jenny Rust, all of Milford. Her grandparents are Ray and Barbara Wood and Carlton and June Rust, all of Milford.

Summer Camps at the Milford Branch of the Music School of Delaware


The Milford Branch of The Wilmington Music School/Delaware Music School announces new summer camp programs for 2009. Summer Garage Band 101 for Intermediate/Advanced Guitar Bass & Drums, Classical Piano for Adults I & II and Make Music with Your Music for Beginning Level Pianists will be offered. Also offered are private vocal and instrumental instruction and popular Kindermusik camps for ages newborn to five with themes including Peekaboo, I Love You!, Zoo Train! and On the Road! Summer programs serve all ages from newborn to adult and begin June 2 at the Milford Branch located at 10 S. Walnut St. in Milford. Milford Senior Center variety show

The Milford Senior Center is hosting its 22nd Annual Variety Show at 7 p.m. Friday, June 5, and Saturday, June 6, and at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 7, in the Crystal Room, 111 Park Ave., Milford.

Tickets for the Friday and Saturday show are $7 and can be bought at the door. The Sunday Dinner Theatre is $22 and tickets must be purchased in advance.

Delaware Tech hosts senior art exhibit


The 19th annual Statewide Senior Art Exhibit will be held at Delaware Technical & Community College, Owens Campus. This event is co-sponsored by the Delaware Association of Programs for the Aging and Delaware Tech.

Exhibits of all submitted works will be on display in the William A. Carter Partnership Center until June 4. A luncheon and awards presentation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 4.
