Q What made you decide to run for council?
A I was born and raised in Milford. I enjoy living here, and my family has always been active in the community. I think now more than ever it’s a good time to get involved in city government, because I think there definitely needs to be a change there, especially in the seat that I’m running for. I’ve got Milford’s best interests at heart, and I really think I can make a difference. It’d be nice to make the community more friendly to young people — when you get out of college, you can’t go back to Milford, because there are no jobs there. We need to fix that.

Q Is there anything the council did in the past two years that you would have done differently?
A Really, they haven’t done a whole lot in the past few years, to be completely honest. The biggest thing is that they need to move emphasis from some of the things that have happened in the past and look forward, for ways to make this community a better place to live and work.

Q What needs to be the city government’s main priority?
A We need to be more pro-business and encourage businesses to come to Milford, rather than doing things that can discourage them. There needs to be more job opportunities for people — of all ages, whether it’s my age, senior citizens, middle age, anything.

Q Has being a business owner changed your perspective on the city government and the job it's doing?
A It definitely makes me pay more attention to the issues going on inside the city. As a business owner, you realize how challenging it can be from day to day, and some of those challenges can be city government issues. You realize the importance of city government, and no matter who you are, you want the best people to sit on city council.
