Milford, Del. -

The Delaware Division of Public Health (DPH) reminds Delawareans that the only open free flu shot event in Kent County during the 2008 flu season will be held Wednesday, Nov. 19 from 10 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. at the Modern Maturity Center, 1121 Forrest Avenue, Dover. Free flu shots will be available to those six months of age or older, regardless of income or health insurance coverage.

DPH will provide 2,500 flu shots at this large, all day clinic. Staff will provide car side service to clients who cannot walk into the center.

The Kent County flu clinic is organized as a preparedness exercise so DPH can test mass vaccination capabilities needed in an influenza pandemic. This event mirrors a successful flu shot exercise held last November at the Delaware Technical Community College in Stanton, where the triaged public received 2,544 flu and 84 pneumococcal vaccinations in 9 hours.

DPH greatly appreciates the cooperation of the Immunization Coalition of Delaware and the Modern Maturity Center for this important event.

Delaware Health and Social Services is committed to improving the quality of the lives of Delaware's citizens by promoting health and well-being, fostering self-sufficiency, and protecting vulnerable populations.
