Clam Jam, the Milford area's annual benefit concert and cookout, held its 2009 event on Sept. 6, with over a hundred attendees coming for fresh seafood, live music and a good cause.
This year's beneficiary was Hayden Godwin, 5, of Bear, who has suffered from acute lymphoblastic leukemia since January 2008. All proceeds from the Clam Jam, including the $50 cost of admission, will go to his family.
It's the second straight year that Clam Jam has made its donation to a child with ALL. Last year's guest of honor, Matthew Hayes, was there on Sunday as a regular partygoer, running and playing like any of the other children there to have a good time.
Godwin's father, Chris, said Clam Jam found him through the Hayeses.
"They were looking for someone who had a need, and Matthew's family gave them our name," he said. "This is a great thing."
