Beebe pulmonary disease support group

Beebe Medical Center has organized a new support group for those with pulmonary diseases. The first meeting of the “Better Breathers Club” will take place at 1:30 p.m. Wednesady, June 10, in the McCurry Conference Center at the Beebe Health Campus on John J. Williams Highway (Route 24) in Rehoboth Beach.

ALS Caregivers Support Group

There is an ALS Caregivers Support Group held from 7 to 9 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month at the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford. For more information, call Larry Ganster at 800-838-9800, ext. 4136.

Support groups for victims of domestic abuse


People’s Place provides support groups for women who have experienced emotional and physical abuse from their past or present partner. Information and support is also provided.

Call 424-2420 for meeting times and locations. Childcare provided at some locations. This group is a Turning Point community service and is free of charge.

Georgetown

Sussex Shore Group Two

MS Couples Support Group

Bayhealth offers specialized prostate cancer support group


Bayhealth Medical Center, in partnership with the Wellness Community and the American Cancer Society, is offering a new support group for African-American men dealing with prostate cancer.

Man to Man, Brother to Brother, is the first support group of its kind serving the needs of men in central and southern Delaware. African-American men are part of a unique population that tends to develop prostate cancer at a younger age and usually suffers from a more aggressive form of the disease.

The group will meet at 10 a.m. on the fourth Saturday of each month, at the Wellness Community, 812 S Bradford St., Dover. All men are welcome to attend.

Parkinson’s disease support group


Bayhealth Medical Center hosts a Parkinson’s disease support group the first Friday of each month from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Kent General Hospital in the General Foods Conference Center. The next meeting is June 5. The group provides information about living with Parkinson’s disease and is an open forum for discussion.

Support group for survivors of accidents and murder


The Mental Health Association of Delaware, in conjunction with People’s Place is offering a monthly support group for people who have lost a family member, friend or co-worker to a sudden and violent death. The Survivors of Accident or Murder support group will meet 7 to 8:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month, at People’s Place in Milford.

The next meeting is July 7. The meetings are confidential, but registration is required by calling 422-8026, ext. 116.

Breastfeeding classes and support groups


A breastfeeding class meets from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month in the ABC Conference Room at Milford Memorial Hospital and at Kent General Hospital the first Wednesday of every month in the General Foods Conference Room. The next Milford meeting is July 7.

A breastfeeding support group meets from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of every month in the sixth floor Women’s Services Conference Room A & B at Kent General Hospital. The next meeting is June 16.

Seekers support group


Bayhealth hosts the Seekers Support Group for people who are blind or visually impaired from 1 to 3 p.m. the second Saturday of each month in Milford Memorial Hospital’s Rehab Conference Room. The next meeting will be held on June 13.

Better Breathing support group


Bayhealth offers the Better Breathing support group to help patients and their families cope with emphysema, chronic bronchitis and other chronic respiratory conditions.

The support group meets from 3 to 4 p.m. the second Monday of May, September and November at Kent General Hospital’s Diagnostic Imaging Conference Room across from the Pulmonary Rehab Department. The next meeting is in Sept. 14.

Child mental health support group


People’s Place, in conjunction with the Mental Health Association of Delaware, offers two monthly support groups for parents of children diagnosed with mental health issues.

The first group will meet from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of every month at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital’s Administration Conference Room, in Seaford. To reserve a seat, call 654-6833 or 422-8026, ext. 116.

The second group will meet from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the second Monday of each month at the People’s Place Counseling Center in Milford. To reserve a seat, call 422-8026, ext. 116.

Free osteoporosis screenings


Bayhealth Medical Center offers free osteoporosis screenings (bone density measurement) from 9 to 11 a.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at Kent General Hospital’s Education Department located at 208 W. Water St. in Dover, at Middletown Medical Center and at Milford Memorial Hospital Women’s Wellness Center.

Diabetes Insulin Pump Club of Lower Delaware


The monthly meeting of the Diabetes Insulin Pump Club meets from 7 to 8 p.m. on the second Wednesday of every month except July and August in the Rehab Conference Room located at 560 S. Governors Ave., Dover. The next meeting is June 10. This is a free support group for individuals with an insulin pump or those who have insulin dependent diabetes.

Grief support group meetings


Bayhealth Medical Center’s grief support group meets at from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on the third Tuesday of each month in the hospital chapel of Milford Memorial Hospital for anyone who has lost a loved one. The next meeting is June 16.

Bayhealth offers monthly low-cost mammograms

Bayhealth Medical Center offers low-cost mammograms from 1 to 3 p.m. on the third Wednesday of every month at Bayhealth Women’s Center at Milford Memorial, 200 Kings Highway, Suite 3, Milford. The next screening will be held on June 17.

Mental health services offered


The Mental Health Association in Delaware hosts depression support groups from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesdays in Milford.

Breast cancer support is available


The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition Peer Mentor Support Program for Breast Cancer provides free one-on-one support and education to those newly diagnosed with breast cancer. DBCC Peer Mentors are trained breast cancer survivors who wish to reach out to help and support others with breast cancer.

If you are newly diagnosed, are currently in treatment, are experiencing a recurrence or are a long-term survivor who needs someone to talk to, our peer mentors are here to help. They can also offer support to spouse, partners, family members and caregivers.

Bayhealth holds monthly HIV support group


Bayhealth has a new HIV Support Group to provide information and support to individuals with HIV and those who are supportive of individuals with the disease.

Bayhealth offers blood pressure program


Bayhealth Medical Center offers its blood pressure clinic program weekly.

Free blood pressure screenings are held from 9 to 11 a.m. each Wednesday at Kent General Hospital and each Thursday at Milford Memorial Hospital.
