Information
The 2009 American Cancer Society Relay for Life will take place from 6 p.m. Friday, June 19, until 7 a.m. Saturday June 20, at the Milford Middle School track. The event will kick-off with cancer survivors and caregivers taking the first lap around the track, and registrants will walk around the track throughout the night as a show of support for cancer victims, and in memory of loved ones who have been touched by cancer.
For more information or to register to walk, call event chair Karen O’Brien at 424-4744, or visit www.relayforlife.org/milfordde.
What is it?
The Relay for Life started in 1985 in Tacoma, Washington. Now held worldwide, the event raised $420 million in 2008.
Proceeds from the Relay for Life of Milford, and other year-round team fundraisers, go to the American Cancer Society to support cancer treatment research and programs that support people affected by cancer. The Milford relay raised more than $170,000 last year, and there is a $100,000 goal for this year’s event.
