This Day in Delaware History:
1792    Kent County Sheriff John Clayton chased legislators out of the  new State House in Dover so workmen could finish their jobs. The legislature had been meeting in the Golden Fleece Tavern on Dover's Green since moving the capitol from New Castle in 1777.

1863    Lt. Louis J. Sacriste of New Castle County, though serving in Co. D, 116th Pa. Infantry, was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for valor in the Battle of Chancellorsville.

1933    Even though beer went on sale for the first time in Wilmington after 13 years of Prohibition, all the rest of the three counties remained dry.

2008    Winterthur in Wilmington offered an array of antique cars to be exhibited which included a 1926 Rolls-Royce Playboy Roadster, a 1937 Packard 12-Cylinder Touring Sedan, and a 1935 LaSalle Convertible with Rumble Seat.
