This Day in Delaware History:


1788    Milford school teacher William Johnson noted in his diary:  "Notice is taken that James Train called William Russell a liar.  Witness, William Pope".

1921    The General Assembly replaced the county school system for one that was statewide.  With it, the state share of school support jumped from 35 to 86%.

1951    The racing season, being sanctioned by the National American Stock Car Racing Association for the first time in the career of the track, officially began for the Delmar Raceway.

1965    A Dover based C-124 airplane crashed near Cordova, MD killing all 6 crewmen.
