This Day in Delaware History:
1832    Governor David Hazzard pardoned Joseph Shelton of Kent County from having to be whipped and wearing a Roman "T" (thief) armband.

1896    The first Sussex County convention of Women Suffragists was held in Lewes.

1937    Hundreds were homeless as spring floods hit 5 states. A storm in Delaware killed 3 with damages mostly in the Bowers and Slaughter Beach areas.

1953    For the 2nd time in 6 months the Delaware Trust Company's Wilmington office was cleared when tear gas from its security system escaped and caused a great disruption.
