Three women thwarted a home invasion the morning of Feb. 22 after they tackled an alleged intruder and held him down until police arrived.
Two men wearing masks and carrying handguns entered the rear door of a home on Ironmine Road in Felton, said Cpl. Thomas Guarini of the Delaware State Police.
Once inside, he said they demanded money and drugs from a 22-year-old woman. They then found two other women, ages 50 and 23, and a 7-year-old girl and ordered them into the living room where Guarini said one man held them at gunpoint while the other searched the house.
After the hold-up man was distracted, Guarini said the women tackled him and pinned him to the floor. Then, he said, one woman called 911 at which time the second man came into the room, pointed a gun at the women and told them to release the pinned man. When the women refused, he said the second man grabbed the phone and left the home.
Police arrested Edwin A. Todd, 18, of Harrington and charged him with first-degree robbery, possession of a fire arm during the commission of a felony, receiving a stolen firearm, possession of a fire arm by a person prohibited, second-degree conspiracy, possession of drug paraphernalia, endangering the welfare of a child, possession of marijuana and criminal mischief. Todd was committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in lieu of $46,350 secured bail.
The second man is described as black, 5-feet-10-inches to 6-feet tall, 170 to 190 pounds and wearing a black mask. Anyone with information is asked to call 697-4454 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
