Milford police arrested a 41-year-old Milford man early morning March 11 after they say he attacked his girlfriend and her family with a large kitchen knife.
The woman and her boyfriend had been arguing when he grabbed a kitchen knife and threatened to kill her and everyone in the house, said Cpl. Thomas Guarini of the Delaware State Police.
The woman’s 19-year-old son entered the room and struggled with the man at which time Guarini said the woman tried to grab the knife causing a four-inch gash in her hand. The woman’s 22-year-old daughter woke up and called 911. The woman and her children left the Thompsonville Road home but Guarini said the man chased after them. When they ran back inside, he said they locked the door and the man tried to come back in. He fled the area after trying to return inside.
Police found the man a short time later at a Harrington home.
Police arrested Richard H. Boyd and charged him with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, second-degree assault, three counts of aggravated menacing, possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited, two counts of terroristic threatening and endangering the welfare of a child. He was arraigned and committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in lieu of $45,000 secured bail.
