Sussex Tech assistant wrestling coach and English teacher Kurt L. Scheck faces recent driving under the influence charges similar to those filed against him last summer.

The 39-year-old Milford resident was driving along Cedar Beach Road Jan. 30 after picking up a 16-year-old boy who is one of his wrestlers, said Lt. Edward Huey of the Milford Police Department.

Schneck was questioning the boy about his "C" grades and drinking an alcoholic beverage while driving when Huey said he missed the turn onto Route 1 and drove off the roadway.

He ran into a street sign, vaulted over the guardrail and stopped after running into a tree, Huey said.

Neither the boy or Schneck was injured but Huey said Schneck tried to assault the officer who arrived at the scene.

Police arrested Schneck and charged him with driving under the influence, resisting arrest with force or violence, driving with a suspended license, failure to have insurance, careless driving and endangering the welfare of a child. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $4,600 cash bail.

Schneck was arrested last summer after a road rage incident involving a couple of people. Huey would not say whether Schneck was on probation relating to last summer's charges.

At the time, Sussex Tech would not comment on his status citing "personnel issues."
