  • The annual Beer Olympics will kick off at noon Aug. 23 with the ceremonial lighting of the trash barrel at Mispillion River Brewing, 255 Mullett Run Street, Milford.
Participants will have the opportunity to register for events, including yard pong, a keg toss, the can shot put, a greased watermelon relay, the world’s shortest boat race and ice-block melting. Individual events start at 1 p.m. and winners will receive medals.
Additionally, the brewery is releasing Warhead, an imperial cherry Berliner Weiss, in bottles only. The sour imperial ale is by tart cherries from Jim Passwaters' farm.
Pints of beer will be available for purchase, and Mr. BBQ will serve up sandwiches.
Admission is free with donations of canned food items for the Food Bank of Delaware.
