A 22-year-old Milford man is facing multiple charges after a domestic dispute allegedly turned violent.
Jesse Wright was arrested on Aug. 10 after an incident that occurred earlier in the day at a residence in the 900 block of Berry Lane in Milford.
A police investigation revealed that Wright and a 22-year-old woman were involved in a verbal dispute outside of the residence when Wright became irate and began yelling at the woman, according to Milford Police Department spokesman Detective Dwight Young.
Young said Wright grabbed the woman and pushed her head against the outside of the residence. When she tried to flee to a neighbor’s residence, Wright grabbed her and threw her to the ground before he grabbed her throat and began to strangle her.
The woman was able to break free and fled on foot. Wright then grabbed a hammer and used it to hit the victim’s vehicle, which was parked at the residence, Young said.
Wright is charged with strangulation, two counts of offensive touching, criminal mischief under $1,000 and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $6,000 secured bond.
