A Milford man has been jailed following an investigation into vehicle break-ins.

Marque Anthony, 25, was charged with third-degree burglary, theft of property valued at less than $1,500, and marijuana possession.

The case began at about 2:30 a.m. Aug. 9, in the 600 block of Hammond Drive, said Delaware State Police spokesman Master Cpl. Jeffrey Hale.

An area resident called 911 after he spotted a man walking from car to car and pulling on door handles, Hale said. The witness said he watched as the man opened an apparently unlocked car and started taking items from inside. Milford Police came to the scene and took Anthony into custody without incident.

A search of his person turned up items linking him to the vehicle as well as other items thought to have been taken from other cars. Police also recovered 0.2 grams of marijuana from Anthony, Hale said.

Anthony was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 7, Dover, and then jailed at the Sussex Correctional Institution after failing to pay a $1,250 secured bond.

Troopers are continuing their investigation.
