A 33-year-old Newark, N.J., man, Dawud M. Mallard, is in jail after a traffic stop in Harrington uncovered cocaine, crack cocaine, marijuana, paraphernalia and suspected drug money.
A 33-year-old Newark, N.J., man is in jail after a traffic stop in Harrington uncovered cocaine, crack cocaine, marijuana, paraphernalia and suspected drug money.
Dawud M. Mallard was allegedly speeding on South Dupont Highway at about 8 a.m. July 15 when he was stopped by a Harrington officer on patrol, said Harrington Police Department spokesman Lt. Earl Brode.
Mallard gave the officer consent to search the vehicle, and police found 29.5 grams of cocaine, 1.9 grams of crack cocaine, 0.7 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and more than $1,900 in suspected drug money, Brode said.
Mallard was arrested and taken to the Harrington Police Department. Police also arrested a passenger in the vehicle, who was later released with no charges.
He is charged with possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 5 quantity, possessing or consuming a controlled substance, possession of marijuana with an aggravating factor, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving without a valid license and speeding.
He was arraigned and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $26,502 secured bail.
