  • Carlisle Fire Company recently assisted the Milford Police Department in rescuing eight ducklings from a drainage pipe.
Carlisle Fire Company spokesman Glenn Gillespie said the fire company was alerted to assist the police department with an animal emergency on June 20 at about 11:30 p.m. on North Dupont Blvd. in Milford.
Carlisle Fire Company responded with forcible entry tools to remove the storm drain so Milford police could enter the drain. Initially, five ducklings were recovered, and moments later the remaining three ducklings exited the drainage pipe.
All eight ducks were rescued and returned to their mother. Responders worked for about half an hour to recover the ducklings, Gillespie said.
