  • Chick-fil-A will add another dining option along U.S. Route 113 when its newest store opens in the Plaza at Milford shopping center last this summer.
But locals should expect for the opening to make for some busy roadways on opening day, when the restaurant will hand out free, one-year supplies of Chick-fil-A meals – 52 meals per person – to the first 100 adults in line.
Chick-fil-A started its “First 100” incentive in 2003. Today, it’s not uncommon for the fast food chain’s loyal customers to camp out 24 hours in advance of new store openings.
“It’s a fun 24-hour event, with great food, music and community, almost like a tailgate party with an opportunity to potentially be one of the F-100 to win free Chick-fil-A for a year,” company spokeswoman Brenda Morrow said.
To date, the chain has gifted more than $200 million in free food through its “First 100” giveaways.
The new Milford location – one of 88 new stores planned across the country in 2014 – will create 80 new jobs when it opens this year.
The 4,500-square-foot standalone restaurant, built by Pennsylvania Construction Associates, Inc. of Harrisburg, Pa., will include two drive-through lanes, as well as free wi-fi.
Morrow said the heavy beach traffic on U.S. Route 113 in the summer played a role in the company’s decision to build a new restaurant this summer.
“Milford’s positioning does play a part,” Morrow said. “Route 113 is known to carry both daily and seasonal traffic, which combined with its solid residential base, makes for a desirable location. We look forward to serving Milford and becoming entrenched in the community.”
