Milford will be well represented at the upcoming 59th Annual Blue-Gold All-Star Football game.

The 59th Annual Blue-Gold All-Star football game is about one week away, and excitement is building throughout the state for this one last opportunity to view the best high school senior football players in Delaware. The players were nominated by their coaches and selected by the Delaware Interscholastic Football Coaches Association.
This year, Milford High School will be represented on the field, and on the sidelines with cheerleaders, ambassadors, Buddies, and on the coaching staff.
According to Renee Blessington, Director of Operations for DFRC, the Buccaneers Octavion Wilson will represent his team on the Gold squad. Wilson, who wore number 5 for the Bucs, played both running back and linebacker during his high school career. He’s listed as 5’11” and 180 lbs.
Amanda Grose will joining the Gold cheerleading squad and Jenna Zettle and Kylie Nelson are the Bucs Senior Ambassadors. In addition, Ashley Webb is one of the Graduating Buddies.
Finally, Milford’s Head Coach, Mike Tkach, was selected as an assistant to help Gold coach Glenn Phillips Jr. from Laurel High School.
The football game takes place at the University of Delaware on Saturday, June 21st. The Opening Ceremonies begins at 6 p.m. with the kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
Blessington said the DFRC, which coordinates the game and yearlong activities, will mark the 50th and 25th anniversaries of the charitable contest. Former players, cheerleaders, band members, coaches, officials and other game-day volunteers from 1964 and 1989 are invited to join the festivities.  Former participants looking for more information about 2014 Game Day events are encouraged to contact DFRC at (302) 454-2730 or email                     This season will also be the 40th anniversary of the Hand-in-Hand Program and 50th anniversary of the DFRC Blue-Gold Marching Band.                                             Proceeds from the game are used to support programs for individuals with intellectual disabilities throughout Delaware.
