  • The Milford Garden Club selected Danny Kelso’s gardens as the Garden of the Month, recognized his years-long efforts at tending roses and other colorful flowers and plants.
Kelso’s gardens, located at 903 S.E. 2nd St. in Milford, were started by his brother nine years ago, and have been carefully tended by Danny Kelso for the past three years, with the help of his daughter Audrey. The front border of the garden includes roses and liriope, framing the beds in front of the house. Purple salvia stands out against the boxwood, with low green shrubs on one side, contrasted by light and dark shades of green from dwarf nandina on the other side. A little Japanese split leaf maple in the center of the garden adds even more color. To the right, is a round, shaded garden filled with hosta, ferns and low shrubs. The back of the garden boasts a large rhododendron, and soon to bloom will be hydrangea.
