  • A 54-year-old Harrington man, John W. Moffett, is in jail after his third DUI conviction.
Around 2 p.m. on May 20, Harrington patrol officers responded to a vehicle accident on Clark Street in the area of Dickerson Street. No injuries were reported, according to Harrington Police Department spokesman Lt. Earl Brode.
Officers contacted Moffett, who was operating one of the vehicles in the accident, and officers determined that he was under the influence of drugs, Brode said.
Brode said police administered standard field sobriety tests and then took Moffett into custody. A warrant was obtained for a blood test, which was administered at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, Brode said.
A computer check revealed that Moffett was previously convicted of DUI in 1987 and 2011.
Moffett was charged with third-offense driving under the influence and failure to remain in a single lane.
He was arraigned and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $5,000 cash bond.
