On Friday, the Milford Bucs girls’ soccer squad tasted victory for the first time since April 1 when the team was 1-1. The Lady Bucs broke a seven-game winless streak, shutting out Sussex Central 3-0.

Milford wasted little time taking the lead on Friday, when junior Corinne Bogan found the back of the net at the ten-minute mark of the first half to give the Lady Bucs a 1-0 lead.

The lead would stay at 1-0 until sophomore Morgan Vance scored at 30:00 to put Milford ahead 2-0, a lead they would keep going into the break.

At the 49:00 mark of the second half, Bogan scored for the second time assisted by Vance to put the Lady Bucs in front for good at 3-0.

Milford dominated play for much of the game, outshooting Sussex Central 23-11, while tripling them in corner kick opportunities, 3-0.

Milford goalkeeper Amber Bliss wasn’t tested often, but the junior made saves on every shot that came her way, finishing with 11 saves on the day to earn the shutout victory.

The Lady Bucs took on Seaford Tuesday after our press time. Milford is back on the pitch Thursday when they host Woodbridge for their Senior Recognition Day starting at 4:00 p.m.

With just five games remaining, the Lady Bucs are playing for pride and looking to put some wins together to end the year on a high note.
