  • The Milford Public Library, 11 SE Front St., is celebrating Children's Book Week from May 12-17 with special activities.
Young Authors Night takes place at 6:30 p.m. May 16. Young authors are invited to share their stories, poems and other works for an audience. Local young author Mckenzie Leigh Betts, who has published two books — the first at age 9 and the second at age 11 — will join.
Other upcoming library activities include Story Hour every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., Toddler Time every Thursday at 10:30 a.m. and BYOB — Bring Your Own Bike (trike, wagon, stroller, etc.) from May 27-29.
Special Mother's Day activities take place on May 6 during Story Hour and May 8 during Toddler Time, where children can make a special craft for their mothers.
The Bookworms, a reading group, will discuss "Fortunately, the Milk" by Neil Gaiman on May 27. The YR Bookworms will discuss "Water in the Park" by Emily Jenkins on May 28.
The Bark for Books program also needs more readers on Wednesday or Thursday afternoons.
