  • Four local students recognized in annual Arbor Day Poster Contest

  • Four local students were recently recognized in the Delaware Forest Service’s annual Arbor Day School Poster Contest. This year’s theme was “Trees are terrific…in cities and towns!” Newark fifth-grade student took home the statewide title, but 12 other participants throughout the state were recognized for their artistic abilities.

This year’s theme was “Trees are terrific…in cities and towns!” Newark fifth-grade student took home the statewide title, but 12 other participants throughout the state were recognized for their artistic abilities.
    Fifth-grade Benjamin Banneker Elementary School student Juan Velasquez was recognized as the winner for his grade in Kent County, Samuel Winston, of Winston Learning Academy in Milford, was recognized as the winner for grades 1 and 2 in Sussex County, Rain Vasey, of Watergirl Farm Academy in Lincoln, was recognized as the winner for grades 3 and 4 in Sussex County and Stephan Venable, of the Honor Academy in Milford, was recognized as the winner for grade 5 submissions in Sussex County.
