  • A 61-year-old Harrington man was arrested for his fourth DUI on March 30 after an alleged hit and run.
Harrington patrol officers responded to a report of a non-injury vehicle accident at the intersection of South Dupont Highway and Milford-Harrington Highway around 6:45 p.m. March 30, said Harrington Police Department spokesman Lt. Earl Brode.
Police were informed that a vehicle had struck another vehicle and fled the scene, and the operator who had called in the accident was able to provide a registration number for the vehicle that fled, Brode said.
A computer check revealed a vehicle registered to a residence in the 6000 block of Whitelysburg Road, and after officers responded to the residence they arrested 61-year-old Keith W. Bauer of Harrington, Brode said.
Bauer was transported to the Harrington Police Department and charged with his fourth offense of driving under the influence, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, failure to provide information at a property damage accident, following a motor vehicle too closely and failure to have license in possession. Bauer, who had three previous DUIs dating back to 1991, was then committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of a $2,103 cash bond, Brode said.
