A 33-year-old Laurel man was arrested after allegedly damaging property at his ex-girlfriend’s residence.
Harrington police responded to a report of a domestic dispute in the 100 block of Dorman Street on March 14, where they contacted a female victim and discovered that the suspect, identified as Kenneth J. Simmons, had fled prior to police arrival, said Harrington Police Department spokesman Lt. Earl Brode.
Officers determined that Simmons, who was not permitted to be on the property, has damaged property inside the victim’s residence during an argument, Brode said.
A warrant was obtained for Simmons’ arrest, but police were unable to located him, Brode said.
Delaware State Police arrested Simmons on March 21 and turned him over to the Harrington Police Department, Brode said.
Simmons was charged with criminal mischief under $1,000 and third-degree criminal trespassing. Police also found Simmons to be wanted by Kent County Court of Common Pleas and Sussex County Court of Common Pleas, Brode said.
Simmons was arraigned and issued a $750 unsecured bond on the criminal mischief and trespassing charges, as well as a $639 cash bond on the outstanding warrants.
Simmons was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of the $639 cash bond.
