  • The DFRC Blue-Gold All-Star Football Game committee has announced the All-Star Buddies selected for the 59th annual DFRC Blue-Gold All-Star Game.
Matthew Lavelle, 13, will be representing the Blue Schools and he is paired with Archmere Academy football players Conor Furey and Jack Malloy. Andrew Grunow, 13, of Middletown, will represent the Gold schools. He is partnered with Middletown football player, Dennie Berger.
Lavelle is a student at Springer Middle School and Grunow attends Alfred Waters Middle School. This will be the seventh season both boys have participated in the Hand-Hand program.
The Hand-in-Hand program matches the game’s high school participants with a child or young adult who has an intellectual disability. The goal of the program is to provide opportunities to interact in a variety of settings, from dance parties to bowling events and picnics, in the months leading up to the game.
