  • Police have arrested four teens and are searching for one more in connection to the Feb. 22 break-in of Zale’s Jewelry Outlet in Rehoboth Beach.
According to the Delaware State Police, the incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. when an alarm was triggered at the store, located at 36706 Bayside Outlet Drive. Upon arrival, police found the front door had been smashed and entry was made into the store. Police said once inside, the suspects used rocks to smash display cases and remove assorted jewelry valued at about $3,000. At about 4:15 a.m., a trooper on patrol in the area of the outlets observed a suspicious vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. Police said the five occupants were interviewed and a computer check was performed to gather their information. They were later released. Police were later able to obtain surveillance photos from the crime scene and matched them with video from the trooper’s in-car camera to determine the descriptions were similar in clothing and physical build.
Later that afternoon, 18-year-old Ricardo L. Cannon of Magnolia and 17-year-old Tommy L. Rushin of Lincoln turned themselves in to Troop 4 in Lewes and were charged with various offenses, including third degree burglary and theft. They returned some of the jewelry taken during the heist and were later released on unsecured bonds.
