A 27-year-old Magnolia woman was arrested for her third DUI after being stopped by Harrington police on South Dupont Highway Feb. 26.
Harrington Police stopped the vehicle operated by Amber R. Hurd for a traffic violation, and upon contacting Hurd, officers detected a strong odor of alcohol, said police spokesman Lt. Earl K. Brode.
Officers administered field tests and Hurd was then taken into custody. She was transported to the Harrington Police Department where she refused to blow into the intoxilyzer, Brode said.
Officers obtained a warrant for a blood draw and then transported Hurd to Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. After the blood draw, Hurd was transported back to the police station for processing.
A computer check revealed that Hurd had DUI convictions in 2011 and 2012.
Hurd was charged with third offense driving under the influence, driving with a suspended or revoked license, failure to have insurance identification in possession, failure to have registration in possession and failed to remain in a single lane.
She was transported to Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of a $5,102 secured bond.
