The Food Bank of Delaware's Milford branch is now accepting Culinary School applications for its third class, beginning April 28.
The Culinary School offers a 14-week program, consisting of 12 weeks of hands-on training in kitchen skills, safe food handling and life skills, culminating with a two-week paid internship at a local food service company. Classes are taught by chef instructor Tim Hunter.
Students also have the opportunity to become ServSafe® certified and the Food Bank of Delaware will assist graduates in placing at a local, entry-level position.
The Culinary School requires a high school diploma or GED with a ninth-grade reading and math level. While the program is price at $5,700, the Food Bank of Delaware works with each candidate to identify funding sources.
Applications for the program beginning April 28 are due by March 17.
