  • Milford police searching for armed robbery suspect
The Milford Police Department is currently searching for a suspect allegedly involved in an armed robbery that occurred around 3 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Milford 84 Lumber store.
Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the subject, who is described as a black male in his late teens or early twenties, standing between 5-feet 7-inches and 5-feet 9-inches in height, and weighing between 150 and 170 pounds.
A police investigation revealed that the unidentified suspect entered the 84 Lumber on McCoy Street, armed with a knife and a baseball bat. The suspect then demanded money from a store employee, who told the suspect that the register could not be opened without a purchase, said police spokesman Detective Dwight Young.
The suspect then provided his own money to the employee to purchase store merchandise. After a verbal dispute about the purchase, a brief struggle ensued between the employee and the suspect, Young said.
The employee was able to take the baseball bat from the suspect but suffered a minor injury to the hand as a result. The employee refused medical treatment.
The suspect then fled the store on foot, Young said.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Detective Dwight Young or Detective John Horsman at 422-8081. Anonymous tips can also be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers at (800) TIP-3333 or at www.tipsubmit.com.
