  • A 32-year-old Houston man was arrested Jan. 30 after he allegedly carjacked a U-Haul truck in Georgetown and drove it to Ellendale, where he alluded police.
According to the Georgetown Police Department, the Ellendale Police Department performed a traffic stop on a U-Haul box truck on N. Old State Road in Ellendale and the operator, Kevin M. King II, fled from police. Police said they followed footprints in the snow from the truck to the back door of a residence on N. Old State Road. Police said they located King in the residence.
Police said King allegedly stole the U-Haul truck while at a stop light at U.S. Route 113 and Del. Route 9 in Georgetown. King was reportedly riding with the person who rented the truck and, while at the stop light, pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the person and demanded they get out of the truck.
Police said a search of the N. Old State Road residence and surrounding area did not yield the handgun. However, during the search officers discovered possible crack cocaine and other drug paraphernalia in an outbuilding King had walked into before entering the residence.
The GPD charged King with carjacking, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, aggravated menacing and theft of a motor vehicle. The EPD charged King with possession of cocaine and resisting arrest. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of bond with a future court date.
